Mosspink :: Brühl

. 3.18.2010

OK, this sofa is just nuts.  But you know what?  I like it.  I really do.  (The model isn't too shabby, either.)  The Mosspink sofa was designed by Kati Meyer-Brühl for the Green Living collection of German furniture design company Brühl.  Did you get all that?  It was awarded the Focus Green Silver 2008 design prize as well as the GOOD DESIGN Award 2008 from The Chicago Athenaeum.

I think what really appeals to me about this sofa are the organic shapes, stacked one on top of the other.  It looks like some odd stepping stone or a marker along a trail.  These backrest elements can be mixed and matched as well, creating a totally custom piece.

Interested in the "green" aspect?  Brühl has this to say:

Mosspink is dressed in natural, environmentally-friendly fabrics, produced with the ecology in mind (awarded the Eu Flower), or exquisite leather. A choice of delicate aluminium or wooden legs, angled, triangular or ball-shaped. The appealing synthesis of environmentally-conscious materials, ecologically sound manufacturing processes and discerning design are a recipe for joie de vivre based on sustainability. Mosspink - naturally unadorned- is a natural beauty.
