Tomorrow Brady and I are meeting up with our graphic novel book club buddies to review our most recent read, Local. It was written by Brian Wood, who is currently working on one of my favorite series, DMZ. I started reading DMZ when we were living in New York, which only added to it's chilling feasibility. If you get a chance, I suggest you check it out. Here's a synopsis, to pique your interest:

In the near future, America's worst nightmare has come true. With military adventurism overseas bogging down the Army and National Guard, the U.S. government mistakenly neglects the very real threat of anti-establishment militias scattered across the 50 states. Like a sleeping giant, Middle America rises up and violently pushes its way to the shining seas, coming to a standstill at the line in the sand — Manhattan or, as the world now knows it, the DMZ. Matty Roth, a na├»ve young man and aspiring photojournalist, lands a dream gig following a veteran war journalist into the heart of the DMZ. Things soon go terribly wrong, and Matty finds himself lost and alone in a world he's only seen on television. There, he is faced with a choice: try to find a way off the island, or make his career with an assignment most journalists would kill for. But can he survive in a war zone long enough to report the truth?

Good stuff, I say.

Anyway, that's our weekend. Are you guys doing anything exciting?

Dear Capree, My prints have arrived! Thank you so much I am delighted with them and plan to frame them as soon as I get some glass(photo and link will appear on my blog when I have done it).

They went on a merry trip around the globe, first to Sussex, England and the shed where I live when I go back, they missed me by a day, so they were sent on to Granada by my friend to be delivered by the donkey this morning. I forget the outside world up this mountain at times, it is good to be reminded, thanks again. Kitty

Kitty! I'm so glad you got them! I was worried that they would get lost somewhere along the way. It sounds like they had quite the adventure finding you, though! :) Anyway, I'm so happy that you like them! I'll be sure to keep an eye on your blog! Thanks again for entering the contest. I hope to have more in the near future! Capree
