Council - Mute Chair

.
2 Remarks

I realize I gave collaborative design group Council a bit of a hard one in the previous post. To make up for it, I'm singing their praises over this chair. It's beautifully designed and looks ergonomic enough to give birth in. I'll take it!

The Mute chair is designed to inspire serenity and calm. The simple, uninterrupted lines flow gently around the fully upholstered seat; the simple base is made of powder-coated steel. Seats, upholstered in 100% wool fabric, come in Charcoal, White, Blue and Red.

Mute Chair designed by
Mike and Maaike for Council.

If you've got a thing for skeleton keys and wallpaper, then allow me to introduce you to the work of Dallas Shaw. This talented young artist has just released a fabulous new collection in collaboration with Given Campbell Wallpapers, featuring her original acrylic paintings. These pieces are playful and stylish - I love her bold use of color! I can imagine so many great spaces for this collection! Which one is your favorite? Is there a perfect spot in your home?

From her bio:

Dallas creates artwork for the young, stylish art enthusiast. Her fresh style has been largely influenced by the fashion and music industries where her masterful use of color results in fun, modern artwork that is ideal for sleek spaces.

My Modern Christmas

. 12.15.2008

So, I've had some requests to see some of my modern Christmas decor (hi Sarah!) and I finally had some time to take a few photos over the weekend. Here are some of my favorite decorations and ornaments! Enjoy!

Glass Trees
and Bubble Balls from CB2

A lot of my ornaments are from CB2, Target, and Pier1.

And of course, here's Wrigley by the tree (and the infamous planter of succulents). He's a pretty cute little guy, even when he's naughty. He has definitely worked hard for his lump of coal, that's for sure!

What are some of your favorite Holiday decorations?

Too Cool for Smool

. 12.02.2008

Robert Bronwasser, founder and director of Dutch design studio SMOOL, has a unique vision when it comes to product design. His products display a perfect balance between form and function, resulting in beautifully simple objects for the home. I am really in love with the Dip Vase, which is made of unbreakable vinyl.

What looks like several delicate, porcelain cylinders, arranged into a smooth, organic shape, is actually soft, unbreakable vinyl, formed with a dipmoulding technique. As a cohesive unit, water is held in the vase and distributed throughout the different parts.

Available from Generate Design for $119.
